The City Council met in regular session with Mayor Cornell and Councilmen
Cook, Johnson, Enlow, and Hall and Councilwoman McDaniel present.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
See. Schafer advised that Loyd Bucklew was concerned about the window
broken in his store recently and the problem of the bread storage box on the
sidewttllc in front of the bus station, Air. Bucklew has experienced con®
si.derable damage to his place of business by destructive action of bus
station patrons pushing the bread box into his building. Mr. Bucklew

asked i;he city to take action to prevent future damage.
A request by J. Y. Bucklew to move a. 20' x 40' sheet iron building back
of his residence to store building material for his new home was approved
by council for temporary use only.
Mr. J. P. Hampton met with the council and discussed the need of a Fire
Chief at the Fire Station and the duties necessary to maintain the
equipment at the present standard of service. Air. Hampton agreed to
continue as Fire Chief temporarily.
Sec. achafer advised the council of a. cha��';ge in insurance companies
covering workmans compensation and liability insurance and that the volunteer
fire department was not covered. An additional premium of 292.50 per
year would cover fire personnel. After discussion motion was made by
Z�icDaniel and seconded by Johnson to discontinue the presently pledged.
?500.00 per year to the Denton City County Health Dept. budget to pay
prcmium to cover the volunteer fire dept. potion carried.
$ec. Schafer is to advise the Denton,-City®County health Dept. of the
necessity to discontinue the pledge.
Benny Johnson, Johnnie Looper, and Larry Klein. volunteer firemen met with
the council and discussed the fire dept. in general and asked council to
consider hiring a full time fire chief. Mayor Cornell asked the group
to suggest a candidate to fill the position. No further action was taken
concerning the fire department.
Sec. Schafer advised the council that the third quarter sales tax amounted
to 2544.96 .
Sec. Schafer asked permission to transfer �$5872.00 from the special fund
to pay bills for equipment and aecessori.es for the electric system.
lotion was made by Cook and seconded. by McDaniel to approve the transfer.

release from Sanger's electric Systell, in order that Denton County REA
could provide electric service for their homes. After discussion con®

for information on seFver and water lines to provide service for
the now Presbyterian Church 1Vest of the Je lN. Bucklew Addition.
The estimated total cost amounted to �„14d2,51.
The council approved a request by Schafer to place a sign pro-
hibiting shooting of :Fire arms on city property at the disposal.

Air. Bryan Goodger, President of the Central Telephone Co,' Inc.
met with the council and presented a revised telephone rate in®
crease as follows: B-1 {9.00 to 11,50, R-1-•�5a25 to 8e10, Ft-2
�4,25 to 5,009 IZ-4 �3,75 to 4e50, B, eXtension °;�1e50 to 1,75'

the -planned eYz<�nges and additions to centrals system for the next

Alr. Goodger stressed the necessity of obtaining; the proposed
rate increase to procure a loan. for -the five year plan. After
considerable discussion motion was made by Cook to accept the
revised. proposed rate increase presented by central,. R{otion
died for lack of a second. No further action vas talcen on the
proposed rate increase.
Alayor Cornell discussed. briefly an electricity rate reduction for
the Ganger Schools. No action was taken.by the council cone
cerning the subject.
A�ayor Cornell asked Gec. Gchafer �to�prepare an ordinance covering
condemnation of unsafe buildi_ngs.,`� �11so an ordinance in coznplianee
with iiul_e 601.34 of .Mules and 1Zeulations as published in the fed-
eral 1Zegister on July 2' 1970 which pertains t,o industrial wastes.%
