10/01/2012-CC-Minutes-Work SessionMINUTES: CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION October 1, 2012 PRESENT:Mayor Thomas Muir,Councilman Ezell,Councilman Russell Martin and Councilman Scott Stephens ABSENT:Councilman Bilyeu and Councilman Patton OTHERS PRESENT:Mike Brice City Manager,Tami Taber City Secretary,Joe Iliff Director of Development Services,Kelli Alexander, Sam Alexander,Joe Falls,Bob Matthews, Steve Watkins, Roger Ballas and John Harden 1.Call Meeting to Order. Mayor Muir called the meeting to order at 6:06 p.m. 2.Discuss Animal Shelter Issues. City Manager advised that the contract with Noah's Ark will end on October 20, 2012. Bob Matthews with All American Dogs located in Pilot Point,spoke to Council and answered questions. The contract will begin on November 1, 2012. The City of Sanger's Animal Control Officer will attempt to contact the owner of any stray animal picked up prior transporting to All American Dogs. Scope of services include impoundment and boarding for not less than 5 days and a monthly report to the City for a monthly fee of $3,400. The City will also provide $21,500 to All American Dogs to accommodate Sanger's animals. The monthly cost does not include quarantine fees, specimen shipment fees,medical or veterinary fees as needed other than euthanasia or fees necessary for adoption. 3.Discuss Potential Amendment to the Sign Ordinance, Permitting Additional Signage for Businesses Near the Intersection of Interstate 35 and FM/455 Chapman Road. Joe Iliff briefed the Council regarding the current sign ordinance and discussed the current allowable signage in business and agricultural zoning. The current ordinance does not allow signage to be placed above roof lines. Steve Watkins, from Fuzzy's Taco, was present and would like the ordinance changed so that they can have additional signage than what is currently allowed. Joe Iliff will bring this item back to Council at the next work session. 4.Overview of Items on Regular Agenda. None. 5.Adjourn. Mayor Muir adjourned the meeting at 6:49 p.m.
