Meeting was adjourned at 6:12 p.m. UWALLUMM acEs0round0 A group from the Denton Historical Society Approached the City a few months ago about moving the church to the historical park in Denton. This produced a renewed effort from the community to restore the church and keep it in Sanger. After a community meeting to discuss the future of the church the city hired Eikon architectural and engineering to take a fresh look at refurbishing the church. Eikon drew up and submitted plans to the Texas Historical Commission, which were approved by the commission. Eil<on also developed an opinion of cost to complete the refurbishing of the church. The total estimated cost to refurbish the church and make it useable for the community is $220,000. This is less than half of the estimated cost proposed in 2007, This is primarily due to not having to rebuild the roof structure from the walls up and not doing some of the interior custom wood work called for in the original plans. Next Steps: The next step is to raise sufficient funds to complete the refurbishing. The Mayor and I have met with the Sanger Area Historical Society and asked them to take the lead on this project and they have agreed. They will be kicking off a fund raising campaign soon to start raising money. The good news is they already have a $25,000 donation plus $9000 of their own money they are willing to put toward the project. Request from 4R: To help make this project a reality we are asking that 4B contribute 110,000. We believe that with this contribution to kick start the campaign, raising the other half of the funds is achievable. Summary: The church has fallen into a state of disrepair over the years. Losing it to Mother Nature or moving it to Denton would be a severe blow to the heritage and history of the City. Restoring it and making it of use to the community would be another step in improving the quality of life in Sanger and preserving its heritage. We hope that 4B will join us in this endeavor. aYUN r m 00 r w m m m ( O 00 G a) r Ln ( Y) to G (` M d' d7 0G mtU fA d3 N ( oo v) S 00 tU N m N qqt c c mi 0o va ea t+ CM Z c y M O O O o o N N o 6 0 6 L6 3 N N lL vo V O O N m O O O O O U O O O O QO O O O t t t t h Z, Z 0) W C m aN O o aGi co W d a d > d m o E a CL Gz m o Z z o N U a d) N a X V ca N F U O o) a Z g 0 ( rn 0 Nt U a ' 00) O N O W O O O O M t!
