City Administrator addressed this item indicating that this project was for our Home Grant Reconstruction Phase. Mr. Keesler advised that originally there were five (5) applicants, however, one applicant withdrew leaving four (4) applicants. He briefly informed the members present of the delay in pursuing the demolition of these properties. This project is almost 2 years old and now it is in the fmal stages. The delay in the beginning was that there were not any contractors who would bid on the project. Finally they did have a bidder and then a problem occurred between the contractor and the company, Therma Save, and the contractor left the company. The contractor then started bis own company and is now ready to begin the project. Mr. Keesler indicated none of the properties meet zoning requirements. In the beginning these homes were to be 750 sq. ft with a single car carport. Then they made the house bigger (1,004 sq. ft) to comply with zoning and removed the carport; however, the Board of Adjustment still has to grant the variance on the carport. City Staff had to get these homes to the lowest zoning requirement in order to pursue with the variance request form the Board of Adjustment. If the Board of Adjustment does not grant the variance each property owner has to come up with $2300 to build the carport. These families are all on a limited income. Discussed. Chairperson Shaw declared Public Hearing closed. 4.
