1. Chairperson Jerry Jenkins Called the meeting to order.
2. Approve Minutes -August 1, 2002
Correction made on item #4, this should read "motion failed 4 to 2", instead of"motion
carried".
Bobby Frizzell moved to approve the minutes as corrected. Sherry Lewis seconded.
Motion carried unanimously.
3. Conduct Public Hearing to Consider a Variance Request concerning Dwelling size
Regulations on Property Legally Described as Roberts Park, Block A, Lot 8. Property
is located at 1601 Fairfield Circle.
Public Hearing opened.
Merrie Lou Abney, 11950 Marion Rd., spoke in favor of the request, indicating the
request was filed on behalf of her clients. They are requesting a variance on the
dwelling size from 1200 square feet to 1099 square feet. She indicated Roberts Park
was changed in 1994 to a minimum size of 1200 square feet, prior to this the zoning was
1000 square feet. The home sizes in that subdivision range from 1056 square feet to
1300 square feet.
Public Hearing closed.
4. Consider and Possible Action Regarding a Variance Request concerning Dwelling size
Regulations on Property Legally Described as Roberts Park, Block A, Lot 8. Property
is located at 1601 Fairfield Circle.
Jay Parr asked if the reason for the request was a money issue.
Ms. Abney indicated they were trying to stay within a budget.
Jerry Jenkins asked what size home was in the deed restrictions.
Ms. Abney indicated the deed restrictions required a minimum of 1000 square foot
homes.
Discussion regarding the current zoning.
Jerry Jenkins reiterated to the board that it takes 6 votes from the board to approve
a variance request.
Joe Falls moved to approve the variance as requested but limited to a single story home.
Pete Morris seconded. Motion carried unanimously.
