May 15, 2018

1. Meeting called to order.
2. Pledge.
3. Citizen’s Input.
• Austin Meeker, the Eagle Scout who completed his project at our downtown park briefly explained the
project and thanked the board for their work and allowing him to work in the park.
• The board expressed their pride and thanks to him for his hard work.
4. Minutes of the Meeting of April 10, 2018.
• Minutes were approved unanimously after a motion to approve by Kelsey Stuart and a second by Jackie
Turner.
5. Follow Up on The Coffee Run Held on April 28, 2018.
• Jennifer Shumate advised that there were 59 runners and that we had runners from three different states,
Frisco, Denton, etc. The Parks and Recreation Department feels this was a successful event!
6. Update on Summer Scheduled Events.
• Adult Kickball – Wednesday’s (June 6-July 18)
• Kids Kickball – Thursday’s (June 7-July 19)
• Adult Softball – Friday’s (June 8-July 20)
• *No games will be played on the week of July 4th
• Movie @ Porter – June 8
• Movie @ Switzer – June 15
• Movie @ Porter – June 22
• Mini Triathlon – June 23
• Movie @ Downtown (with Library event) – June 29
• Freedom Fest – June 30
• Summer Concert – July 21
• August – Open (Back to School – participate in Meet the Tribe?)
• September – Open (Sellebration Date – September 8)
• Note – Two large bike races coming on May 19 (we are a partner) and June 2.
7. Keep Sanger Beautiful / Keep Texas Beautiful / Keep America Beautiful Update.
• Jackie Turner updated that all is mostly quiet with these organizations right now. She is regularly attending
webinars.
• The Board once again thanked Jackie for her continued hard work on Keep Sanger Beautiful.
8. Open Discussion of Future Projects.
• Jennifer Shumate advised the board that the shade structures were being put up at Porter Park.
9. Future Agenda Items.
• Jennifer Shumate told the board that the June meeting may be the Parks Tour and it will be held on June
18, 2018.
