MINUTES: Parks and Recreation Board
June 9, 2015

Jason and Carmen Collett representing the Sanger High School Fishing Team
1. Meeting called to order at 7:05pm.
2. Pledge.
3. Citizen’s Input.
Citizens in attendance did not speak.
4. Consider minutes of the meeting of March 10, 2015.
Minutes approved unanimously after a motion to approve by Lee Allison and a second by Eddie Piercy.
5. Post Event Follow Up On The Easter Egg Hunt That Was Held on April 4, 2015.
Event was successful. Good attendance. Ran smoothly. No changes for 2016.
6. Post Event Follow Up On The Pitch, Hit, and Run That Was Held on April 11, 2015.
Event was not as successful as hoped. Only 22 participants and at least 9 of those were from
neighboring communities.
Jim Berman feels at this time Sanger would better benefit from an event that encompasses the entire
community rather than one niche (ie: baseball/softball). He suggested the possibility of holding a 3K/5K
rather than this event for 2016. Board was in agreement.
Pitch, Hit, and Run will not be continued.
7. Fishing Derby to be Held on June 13, 2015.
Registration will begin at 9am with fishing beginning at 9am and ending at 12noon.
Mr. and Mrs. Collett of the Sanger High School Fishing Team were in attendance and advised that they
have prizes for the children that were donated by Berkley. They also will have members of the High
School Fishing Team in attendance to assist the parks board with registration, weigh in, and other things
as needed.
Lastly the Fishing Team would like to have a table for kids in the community to get information as well
as sign up for the Fishing Team (if in High School).
8. Parks CIP.
Bleacher covers will remain on the CIP. The cost of bleacher covers is about $10,000.00 per bleacher.
So this will be a very large expense and will take time to budget in.
Swings will be put in at Switzer in the very near future.
9. Open Discussion of Future Projects.

Post Event Follow Up On The Fishing Derby Held on June 13, 2015.
Parks CIP.
July meeting canceled. Next parks board meeting will be August 11, 2015.
