05/14/2013-Parks Rec-Minutes-Regular MINUTES: Parks and Recreation Board May 14, 2013 MEMBERS PRESENT: Carrie Bilyeu, Lee Allison, Josh Shumate, Jackie Pevehouse MEMBERS ABSENT: Tom Swartz, Mendy Echols OTHERS PRESENT: Director of Parks and Recreation Brian Crenwelge, Parks and Recreation Secretary Jennifer Shumate 1. Meeting called to order at 7:00pm. 2. Pledge 3. Consider minutes of the meeting of April 9, 2013. Minutes approved unanimously after a motion to approve by Carrie Bilyeu and a second by Lee Allison. 4. Citizen Input. No citizens in attendance. 5. Follow up on MLB Pitch, Hit, and Run Event Brian Crenwelge provided the board with an event summary:  Concession stand was not as successful as intended  Pre-event meeting was imperative in success of event  2014 will have a firm start time  46 children participated  All supplies have been purchased and are ready for 2014 so next year’s expenses will be minimal 6. Trash Off  The annual Sanger Trash Off is being held Saturday May 18, 2013 from 9am – 1pm  We will have 4 IESI bins, 2 Fulton bins, and a Goodwill bin  Chipper truck will also be there to chip any brush that was brought in  IESI donated $200.00 to feed all volunteers  Staff will arrive at 8am on that Saturday 7. Discuss and Review Park Ordinance and Fee Schedule Development  Brian Crenwelge discussed in detail any changes made since previous copies were reviewed  Board has no changes Park Ordinance and Fee Schedule was unanimously passed with a motion from Lee Allison and a second by Carrie Bilyeu. 8. Texas Trail Network  Porter Sports Park is now registered with the Texas Trail Network 9. Walk Across Texas  There are 19 participants currently registered in the program  We will participate again in the Fall 10. Photo Contest  Information given regarding photo contest that is currently in progress 11. July 4th Parade 12. Downtown Park Sidewalk Project  Beginning Monday, May 20, 2013 the sidewalk going to the pavilion from Bolivar Street to the pavilion at the downtown park will be torn up (by Parks and Recreation Staff) and repoured with the current bricks being ribboned down the side.  The sidewalk going from the pavilion to the flag poles will be removed completely. 13. Adopt-A-Park and Memorial Tree Brochures  Parks Board members were given a copy of the brochures that were previously approved 14. Parks Board Opening and Openings Becoming Available (June 2013)  Tricia Nelson-Sprayberry has resigned from the Parks & Recreation Board and therefore her position is now available  All odd places are also becoming available at the end of June – Joshua Shumate, Jackie Pevehouse, and Mendy Echols. Any board members wishing to reapply need to fill out an application and return to City Hall. 15.
