MEMBERS PRESENT: Jennifer Shumate, Lee Allison
Mendy Echols, & Bob Koger
MEMBERS ABSENT: Cora IIamer, Melanie Jacobs & Chris Byrom
OTHERS PRESENT: John Schubert, Parks Superintendent,
& Norma Varner, Public Works Secretary
Jennifer called the meeting to order at 7:04 pm.
2. Bob made a motion to approve the minutes from March 8th, 2012 with a
2nd from Mendy and the minutes were approved unanimously.
3. Citizen Input:
Jeanice Newton from the Keep Sanger Beautiful Board told the
Parks Board how nice the new Porter Sports Park is for Sanger.
4. Update on Park Projects:
John reported that Parks Department is clipping tree limbs, general
maintenance on ball fields and mowing, and repairs as needed from
high wind damage.
5. Discuss Grant Options for Handicap Facilities at Parks:
Bob volunteered to do research on grants available and will report
to the board with the information.
6. Youth Sports Association:
This item was tabled and will be added to a firture agenda.
Recap of Ribbon Cutting Event and Easter Event:
The Easter Event was held at the new Porter Sports Park and the following
reminders were listed for 2013:
• Increase purchase of eggs to 3,000
• Divide age groups for hunting eggs to:
• Babies/Parent Assisted, Toddler, Pre-K & Elementary
• Prize Baskets need to be all non -gender
• Parks Board needs to purchase new bunny suit
8. Future Agenda Items:
• Add 4th of July Event
• Discuss Grant Options for Handicap Facilities at Parks
• Discuss booth at Sanger Sellabration Event
9. Bob made a motion to adjourn the meeting with a 2nd from Lee
Next Meeting will be Tuesday, June 5th at 7:00 PM
