MINUTES: Parks and Recreation Board
October 20, 2015

PRESENT: Parks Superintendent Jim Berman and Administrative Assistant Jennifer Shumate
1. Meeting called to order at 7:00pm.
2. Pledge.
3. Citizen’s Input.
No citizens in attendance.
4. Consider minutes of the meeting of September 8, 2015.
Minutes approved unanimously after a motion to approve by Eddie Piercy and a second by Carrie Bilyeu.
5. Sanger Sellebration.
Board members agreed to not have a booth for the 2016 Sanger Sellebration. Board agrees that their time and
Money might better be spent elsewhere.
6. Fishing Derby to be Held on October 24, 2015.
Derby will be held during the hours of 2pm – 4pm. With registration opening at 1pm.
A donation from Walmart of Fishing Poles will be a huge help with door prices.
Jackie Pevehouse has arranged for six (6) volunteers from NCTC.
The High School Fishing Team will also be helping at the Derby.
Jim Berman has asked the Board to watch the weather closely. If it is rained out there will not be a reschedule.
7. Christmas Parade to be Held on December 12, 2015.
Jim Berman would like a volunteer at every intersection/cross street.
Parks Department will order vests for volunteers to wear for safety.
8. Parks CIP.
A copy of the concept plan was given to the Parks Board for the Trail Extension for Porter Park.
9. Open Discussion of Future Projects.
Swing Set going up at Switzer Park.
New Christmas Decorations are in for the Downtown Park.
