AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANGER, TEXAS,
AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES BY
PROHIBITING THE USE OF WOODEN SHINGLES IN NEW
CONSTRUCTION AND BUILDING IMPROVEMENTS IN
THE CITY; PRESCRIBING A PENALTY FOR VIOLATIONS;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND CONFLICTING
PROVISIONS; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANGER,
TEXAS:
SECTION I:
That Chapter 3 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Sanger is hereby amended by the
addition of an article, to be numbered Article 3.1600, which shall read as follows:
"ARTICLE 3.1600 WOODEN SHINGLES
§ 3.1601 Use of Wooden Shingles Prohibited
In addition to any other restrictions of the City regarding roof covering, the installation of a
wood shingle or shake roof on any structure hereafter constructed or on any existing
structure being modified or otherwise improved in the City is hereby prohibited.
§ 3.1602 Penalty for Violations
Any person, firm, or corporation who shall violate any of the provisions of this article shall
be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be fined in accordance with the
general penalty provision found in Section 1.105 of this Code."
SECTION II:
That if any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase, or word in this
Ordinance, or application thereof to any person or circumstances, is held invalid by a court
of competent jurisdiction, such holding shall not affect the validity of the remaining
portions of the Ordinance, and the City Council hereby declares that it would have passed
such remaining portions of the Ordinance despite such invalidity.
SECTION III:
That any and all Ordinances of the City of Sanger heretofore adopted which are in conflict
with this Ordinance are hereby expressly repealed insofar as the same are in conflict
therewith.

SECTION IV:
That this Ordinance shall take effect immediately, from and after its passage and publication
of the caption, as the law in such cases provides.
