AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANGER, TEXAS,
AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES BY THE
ADDITION OF PROVISIONS REGARDING FALSE ALARMS
AND PROHIBITING EXCESSIVE OCCURRENCES
THEREOF; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND
CONFLICTING PROVISIONS; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE FOR THIS ORDINANCE.
WHEREAS, the fire department of the City of Sanger strives to provide sufficient and
effective fire fighting and emergency services to all citizens and facilities in the City; and
WHEREAS, unnecessary deployment of the fire department in response to false fire alarms
results in the unnecessary and wasted time and expense by the City,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANGER, TEXAS:
SECTION I:
That Chapter 5 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Sanger is hereby amended by the
addition of an article, to be numbered Article 5.600, which shall read as follows:
"ARTICLE 5.600 FALSE FIRE ALARMS
§ 5.601 Excessive False Fire Alarms Prohibited
(a) As used herein, an "excessive false fire alarm" is defined as any false fire alarm in
excess of five (5) in the preceding twelve (12) month period.
(b) Excessive false fire alarms summoning the fire department of the City of Sanger are
hereby prohibited and punishable in accordance herewith.
(c) Each excessive false fire alarm shall render the person or persons responsible therefor
subject to a separate penalty for each and every such excessive false fire alarm.
§ 5.602 Penalty for Violations
Any person, firm or corporation who shall violate any of the provisions of this article shall
be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be fined in accordance with the
general penalty provision found in Section 1.105 of this Code."
SECTION II:
That if any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase, or word in this
Ordinance, or application thereof to any person or circumstances, is held invalid by a court

of competent jurisdiction, such holding shall not affect the validity of the remaining
portions of the Ordinance, and the City Council of the City of Sanger hereby declares that it
would have passed such remaining portions of the Ordinance despite such invalidity.
SECTION III:
That any and all Ordinances of the City of Sanger heretofore adopted which are in conflict
with this Ordinance are hereby expressly repealed insofar as the same are in conflict
therewith.
SECTION IV:
That this Ordinance shall take effect immediately, from and after its passage and publication
of the caption, as the law in such cases provides.
