06-96-Ordinance-Amending the Beautification Board Appointment and Number-06/17/1996CITY OF SANGER, TEXAS ORDINANCE No. 06-96 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANGER, TEXAS REVISING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES BY REDEFINING THE APPOINTMENT OF BOARD MEMBERS TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF MEMBERS OF THE BEAUTIMCATION BOARD FROM SEVEN TO NINE; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTING ORDINANCES AND PROVISIONS OF THE CITY; ESTABLISHING SEVERABILITY OF THE ORDINANCE; AND PROVIDING AN EFT E CTIVE DATE FOR THE ORDINANCE. NOW BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANGER, TEXAS; I. CODE OF ORDINANCES REVISED (a) That Chapter 8, Article 8.601a regarding Appointment of Board be revised such that it shall hereafter read as follows: "ARTICLE 5.601a APPOINTMENT OF BOARD There is hereby created a Beautification Board to be composed of nine (9) members, appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council. Members shall serve from July 1 of the year of appointment for staggered terms of two (2) years and may be appointed to three (3) successive terms of office. The members of the Beautification Board shall be identified by place numbers one (1) through nine (9). The even -numbered places shall expire in even - numbered years and the odd -numbered places shall expire in the odd -numbered years. Newly appointed members shall be installed at the first regular committee meeting after their appointment. H. CONFLICTING PROVISIONS Any and all Ordinances of the City of Sanger, Texas, heretofore adopted which are in conflict with this Ordinance amendment are hereby expressly repealed insofar as the same are in conflict therewith. If any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase or word in this Ordinance amendment, or application thereof to any person or circumstances, is held invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, such holding shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of the Ordinance, and the City Council of the City of Sanger, Texas, hereby declares that it would have passed such remaining portions of this Ordinance despite such invalidity. Ordinance No. 06-96 Page 2 IV. EFFECTIVE DATE This Ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after passage and publication, as the law in such cases provides.
