MINUTES: Parks and Recreation Board
May 14, 2019

1. Meeting called to order.
2. Pledge.
3. Citizen’s Input.
• No citizens in attendance.
4. Minutes of the Meeting of April 9, 2019.
• Minutes were approved unanimously after a motion to approve by Cale Trail and a second by Brett Bumpus.
5. Follow Up on the Easter Egg Hunts Held on April 19, 2019 and April 20, 2019.
• Jennifer Shumate advised that both egg hunts were a huge success and will be continued as is for 2020.
6. Follow Up on the Dog Fun Run Held on April 27, 2019.
• Ms. Shumate advised that this event was not a huge success to start but was ok for a first-time event.
Discussions will take place on what to potentially hold on this date for 2020.
7. Discuss the Kid Fishing Derby to be Held on May 25, 2019.
• This fishing derby will be held just as the past derbies were. No changes. Any board members available
are welcome to come out and help with registration and weighing fish.
8. Discuss the Summer Events Scheduled for June and July 2019.
• A summer events schedule was handed out to all board members and they were asked to be at any event
they were able with the main need being Freedom Fest on June 29, 2019.
9. Keep Sanger Beautiful / Keep Texas Beautiful / Keep America Beautiful Update.
• Reports have all been submitted and Jackie Turner is still attending webinars as available. Jackie is also
attending a training in Lewisville for 8 hours for KTB.
10. Open Discussion of Future Projects.
• No meetings to be held in June or July due to all the scheduled events. Next meeting will be in August.
• All board members in attendance were ok with using texting as a reminder for events.
