MINUTES: PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION
February 8, 2016

1. Meeting called to order at 7:00p.
2. Determine Presence of a Quorum and Seating of Alternates.
3. Approve minutes of the January 11, 2015 meeting.
Motion to approve minutes with the following changes: Remove Dorcyle McClure from Members
Present, correct spelling of Sherri McCandless’s name, correct spelling error in item #10.
Motion carried unanimously.
4. Conduct a Public Hearing, Consider, Discuss, and Possibly Take Action on Amendments to the
Zoning Ordinance Concerning the Creation of new Residential Districts.

Mr. Iliff presented to the Commission four proposed new residential districts for the Zoning Ordinance,
that would accommodate larger houses to be constructed on smaller lots than the current districts permit.
After Mr. Iliff’s presentation, the public hearing was opened. No one spoke, and the public hearing was
closed. Ms. McCandless made a motion to recommend approval of the proposed amendment per staff’s
recommendation. Ms McClure seconded. The motion did not pass with a vote of three in favor
(McCandless, McClure, and Hensley), one against (Allen), and one abtension (Morgan). A motion to
table the item to the March meeting was made by Ms. McCandless, seconded by Ms. McClure, and
passed unanimously.
6. Update from Director of Development Services on City Council Action and Commission
Openings.
Update given by Mr. Joseph Iliff.
