Sanger Public Library Board
Monday, February 13, 2017
Library– 501 Bolivar
1. The meeting was called to order at 7:12 p.m.
2. Present: Beth Avery, Kandyce LaFleur, Suzanne Sears, and Audrey Tolle.
3. The minutes from the November 21, 2016 meeting were presented. One correction
was made: Meeting began at 7:05 p.m. Kandyce LaFleur moved for approval.
Suzanne Sears seconded.
4. Library Director's Report.
1. With cold weather there was a focus on preventing another pipe bursting. Two
HVAC companies were called in to do maintenance. Insulation was added to the
attic and thermometers with remote sensors were installed.
2. The new/gently used screen and ceiling mounted projector, and a new sound
system were installed in the conference room.
3. The part-time temporary/seasonal position was converted to a permanent part-time
position of about 12-14 hours/week. The position has been posted.
4. The personnel projection report for when the city grows to 10,000 and 12,000 was
submitted to the city manager.
5. Madonna read “Twas the Night before Christmas” to about 60 children and 100
adults gathered around the gazebo after the annual Christmas Parade festivities.
6. The Christmas movie showings were not as successful as in the past. This may
have been due to the timing of the holidays.
7. Reading With Rover therapy dog program was a success with 9 children

participating. It is planned for the 4 Saturday of the month through the spring.
8. Applied for North Texas Book Festival grant for the purchase of juvenile audio
books.

9. City's new website is supposed to go live on March 1. Laura has taken a lead role
in working with the company, EZTask, on implementation for the city.
10 Upcoming events: Blind Date with a Book, Computer classes on windows 10 and
MSOffice.
11 The Library Director talked to a representative for Komatsu Architecture about a
needs analysis for a new library.

was adjourned at 8:46 p.m.
The next Board meeting will be May 15, 2017.
