08/09/2010-Library Board-Minutes-Regular MINUTES-SANGER PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD August 9, 2010 The meeting was called to order at 7:05 pm by Don McClure. Members present at the meeting were: Judie Rodgers, Elizabeth Muir, Rosene Sebastian, Sonya Iliff, Don McClure, Norma Matney and Vicky Elieson, Library Director Minutes: Don made a motion with a second from Norma to approve the minutes from the May 2010 meeting. Motion passed. Library Director’s Report: 1. Denton County Funding Update- Reported a cut of 5% to county library funds. Cuts to the local city budget were also discussed. 2. Air conditioning required replacing the 2 other units in the library in addition to the previous work mentioned in the May minutes. 3. Website accessibility evaluation for the Sanger Library website yielded a good report with some suggestions for ease of use. 4. Summer activities went over well. The art class was as popular as storytime this summer. A paper mache’ dragon created by the art class is on display inside the library at this time. Board members discussed ideas for next year. 5. Texas Library overview report was reviewed 6. The “Priddy” Trust Grant will provide 500-600 children's books in Spanish, plus money for programs promoting their use, training in reaching Spanish speakers and shelving for the books we will be getting. 7. Discussed use of library room for Rodeo club. Discussed supporting the Friends of the Library Booksale: The booksale will be held during the th Sanger Sellabration scheduled for Saturday September 11 this year. The Friends of the library will need th help setting up for the booksale on Friday September 10 beginning at 9 am. Discussion and review of the Long Range Plan for possible endorsement: Discussed clarifications regarding the Long Range Plan. Rosene made a motion to accept the Long Range Plan with amendments as discussed. Motion passed. Adjourn: The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 pm.
