09/24/2009-Parks Rec-Minutes-RegularKeep Sanger Beautiful Minutes September 24, 2009 The meeting was called to order by the Chairman. Those in attendance were: Yvonne Cain, Jamece Newton, Elizabeth Higgs, Alice Madden and Chairman Carolyn Frazier. Pat Haigh, representing TxDot, was a guest. Mr. Haigh discussed the possible projects suggested by the KSB for the use of the $70,000 award From TxDot. He asked that these projects be prioritized. The committee agreed to the following order: 1. Lighting the south entrance "Welcome" sign and mural 2. Painting the north and south overpasses and the 455 overpass. This would include the upper tier, columns and cement slanted areas. 3. A sign for the south west side of 455. Mr. Haigh said he will review these suggestions and present drawings to the Board. The minutes were read and corrected. A discussion followed regarding the dates of future projects. Yvonne Cain moved and Janiece Newton seconded that dates be amended for City-wide Garage Sale and decorating the park. The dates are now. 1. City-wide Garage Sale - Oct. 17, 8:00-2:00 2. Decorate City Park" Oct. 17 3. Lake and River Clean-up - Oct. 10 - Selina Swaim 4. Safe Spook - Oct. 30 - Kem Green 5. Arbor Day Poster Contest - Elizabeth Higgs 6. Christmas Tour of Homes - Dec. 13, 1:00-5:00 - Carolyn Frazier Homes considered - Penny Juarez, Linda Hewlett, Gray Shelton, Allen Chick, Lanny Grissom 7. Caught -Doing -Good - Selina Swaim 8. Make -A -Difference - High School Art Department Carolyn Frazier suggested adding scare -crows to the park's decorations. The committee agreed. KTB training will be Nov. 4 & Nov. 5 in Gainesville. Elizabeth Higgs moved and Janiece Newton seconded the motion that KSB pay registration fees for any member wishing to participate. The motion passed. KTB has moved to new offices. The Chairman announced the Litter Index had been completed and KSB had applied to KAB far membership. This fee was $100. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
