Streets/Parks Superintendent John Henderson, John Springer, Mark Owens,
Paul Vineyard, B.J. Ruff
1. Mayor Called Meeting to Order.
2. Discussion Regarding Downtown Sidewalks.
Discussed Downtown sidewall�s and parking.
City Manager indicated he would like to take care of installation of handicap ramps
near the drugstore first, and raise the height of the sidewalks to be able to walk right
into businesses. He felt that should be the first priority.
John Henderson indicated they could cap the sidewalk but it would not look nice, he felt
it would be better to re -do the whole thing.
Discussion continued.
Mayor suggested they go look at the City of Keller's downtown area for possible ideas
on street corners. He indicated the corners should not go out in the street, he did not
want to bottleneck downtown.
John Springer indicated he felt it should be something attractive to bring people to the
downtown area.
Mark Owens discussed possibly changing some of the streets to one-way.
Discussion regarding one way streets and truck deliveries.
City Secretary discussed grant possibilities.
Discussed funding issues.
Discussed one-way versus two-way streets and the pros and cons regarding it.
Paul Vineyard, Owner of Babe's Chicken, indicated he plans to open for lunch in the
Spring. He felt this would bring more people to downtown.
Councilman James refered to the Historical Committee and indicated they were
working on an ordinance designating downtown as a Historical district.
Discussion regarding a concept plan for the sidewalks.
Mayor indicated they should discuss it with the City Engineer and have him put
something together.
