03/03/1997-CC-Minutes-RegularMINUTES: City Council March 3, 1997 PRESENT: Mayor John Coker, Councilman Tommy Kincaid, Councilman Jack Richardson, Councilman Jimmy Frazier, Councilman Jerry Jenkins ABSENT: Councilman Glenn Ervin OTHERS PRESENT: City Administrator Larry Keesler, Administrative Secretary Cheryl King, Electric Superintendent Larry Yoast, Public Works Superintendent Chuck Tucker, Chief of Police Benny Erwin, Edward Clements, Jane Edwards, Eugene Edwards, Donna Fritz, Alice Madden, Bob Blank, Glenn Shaw, Lisa Hardy 1. Mayor Coker Called the Meeting to Order. Councilman Richardson led the Invocation, followed by Councilman Jenkins leading the Pledge of Allegiance. CONSENT AGENDA 2.(3) a) Approve Minutes b) Disbursements Motion was made by Councilman Jenkins to Approve Consent Agenda with the exception of Glenn Shaw's bill to the City for gravel. Seconded by Councilman Kincaid. Motion Carried unanimously. 3.(2) Citizen's Input. Glenn Shaw, 800 N. Keaton, addressed the Council regarding the problem he has had with his drainage. He provided pictures to Council to support his bill to the City for gravel. Discussed. Ed Clements, 110 Cripple Creek Court, baseball coach for young children wanted to request the use of the lights at the Community Center ballfield twice a week from 6:30 to 8:30 to practice just until the baseball season starts in April He is willing to pay for the electrical usage of the lights. Discussed. The consensus of the Council to turn this over to Chuck Tucker since it falls under his department. Chuck advised he and Ed had already talked prior to Council meeting and be was agreeable as long as Council didn't have a problem with it. 4. Consider and Possible Action to Approve Ordinance No. OS-97 Abandoning a Portion of Wayne Drive. Motion was made by Councilman Richardson to Approve Ordinance No. 05-97 Abandoning a Portion of Wayne Drive. Seconded by Councilman Kincaid. Motion Carried unanimously. 5. Consider and Possible Action to Appoint Election Judge and Alternate Election Judge. Motion was made by Councilman Kincaid to Appoint Wynema Schertz as the Election Judge and Louella Ward as the Alternate Election Judge. Seconded by Councilman Jenkins. Motion Carried unanimously. CC MINUTES 03/03/97 PAGE 2 6. Any Other Such Matters. a. City Administrator Larry Keesler advised Councilman Ervin was at Open House with his children. b. Mr. Keesler reminded Council about the memo in their packet regarding his evaluation process and that Council needed to have them complete by the next Council meeting. c. Mr. Keesler advised them he had a letter from Ron Neiman regarding the property on 2nd street that had been abandoned and approved for demolition. 3__,. d. Mr. Keesler advised Council of numerous complaints received regarding the Cable Tv people cutting down tree limbs and leaving them. e. Councilman Kincaid inquired if anyone was experiencing cable outages or poor reception. Discussed. Mr. Keesler added that Friendship Cable had been updating their lines in our area which was causing some outages. He was also informed by Friendship that they would be laying the lines to Indian Springs Subdivision sometime next month. f. Councilman Jenkins inquired if Friendship had Willowood on their list. Mr. Keesler stated not at this time. Councilman Richardson asked about Lakecrest Meadows to which Mr. Keesler replied he did not know about Lakecrest Meadows. g. Mayor Coker read a letter from the University of North Texas Police Department regarding Officer Thorne coming to their aid. Mayor Coker complimented Officer Thorne for his actions. �. h. Mayor Coker read a letter from the 4th Grade STARS class stating they wanted to help make Sanger a more beautiful place to live in any way they can. Some of their ideas are to plant more flowers, paint the City park benches, raise funds for new playground at the City park, etc. After discussion Mayor Coker turned this over to Larry Keesler to contact them. i. Councilman Kincaid stated he thinks the City should look at other ways to make money such as a City campground or a municipal golf course. Stating he realizes that both of these would cost a great deal of money to start up, however, the end result would certainly make the City money. 7. Adjourn. John l�li Coker III, Mayor i1 ��
