BOX 578 SANGER, TEXAS 7E3266 :: Honorable Mavor &Members of the City c:nunc-it _._ _ _ _ _ _M . _ ._.. John Hamilton, City Manager November 1, 1990 Workshop, 5;30 p, m., November 5, 1990 Staff has identified the following capital improvement projects for your consideration: 1). Site location for construction of a ground water storage tank to receive Upper Trinity Water. tm.l_e.ion date,.mme .9 Discussions with the engineer have centered on a 500,000 gallon tank to be constructed in the area of Willow and Railroad. This will allow atie-in to an 8" water line, the largest we have on the east side of town. We would need to acquire a site of approximately 300' X 300' in order to construct our facility. Current engineering estimates place the cost of ground storage tank construction at $.50 per gallon. On Tuesday, October 30th, I visited with Tam Taylor, General Mgr. of the Water District and he told me that there is the possibility that the District would construct a tank for us. This would be critical in our site selection as the pipeline from the tank location to our system would be crucial. If the tank be constructed on the site of the proposed well in 1988, the line construction costs to tie-in to our system were estimated at $174,000 in 1988. 2). Improvement of Holt Road is needed to improve traffic flow to and from Sanger High School. This is a very narrow street that must now accommodate school buses and increased traffic load due to the one way access roads. The attached map indicates street widths and lengths in this area. Hunter #687 Workshop Agenda Page 2 11/2/90 Associates has provided the following cost estimates less engineering or extensive drainage: 27' Asphalt - $85 per linear ft. 31' Asphalt - $70 per linear ft. 20' Asphalt - $25 per linear ft. 25' Asphalt - $31 per linear ft. 30' Asphalt - $37 per linear ft. 3). If Don Sable does not begin work on the Willowood Addition, the City will need to do something to relieve the strain on the 6" sewer mains through the Jackilu, Wayne Drive area. Staff would propose a new 12" main be constructed from a tie-in on 5th Street at about Wayne Drive, eastward on the utility easement south of Wayne Drive to the railroad track and then to our Wastewater Treatment Plant. The distance from 5th east to the RR track is 1550 ft. and from the railroad track to the sewer plant is approximately 2,000 feet. Hunter Associates has provided a cost estimate of $15 per linear ft, for a 12" sewer main less permitting and engineering. This would provide a base cost of $23,250 from 5th to the RR and $30,000 from the tracks to the sewer plant for a total project, less engineering and permits of $53,250.00, This project might preclude the City from having to oversize the interceptor line through Willowood Addition when it is constructed. This would be a question for our engineers. These are three (3) projects identified by staff for your consideration. I encourage you to bring to the discussion any capital improvement projects that you have identified. #Ow Workshop Agenda Page 3 11/2/90 Examples of needed improvements would be replacement of many blocks of both water and sewer lines. Also Fred Inman contacted City Hall in reference to constructing a North/South Feeder street east on the railroad track. Mr. Inman pointed out that if the 455 RR crossing were blocked, there is no easy access to 455 east of the tracks. JH:es I I ROAp o_ 336/ W . BOLIVAR u .LS Jt►,t JT166,L- I a rc W.
