Last year Council raised the exemption from $3,000 to $6,000. At this point in the appraisal district's procedures, it is difficult far staff to project the impact any increase in the senior exemption would have on our tax collections. As an illustration, if you used our current tax rate of $.4425/$100: $50,000 Home 6 0,_00 Senior Exemption $44,000 -$100 AIIAZI A lass of $17.70 $50,000 Home _10,000 Senior Exemption $40)000 -$100 X 4425 $177.00 Annual Tax Our current tax role lists 249 "old age" exemptions for a total of $1,488,857. If the "old age" exemption is increased from $6,000 to $10,000, an increase of 67%, then the total value removed from the tax role would be $2,486,391. JHt CITY OF BANGER P. 0. The two Planning &Zoning recommendations on Willowood Addition and the requested change to L-I on the Millar property at Fourth and Cherry, will be on the agenda on June 18th. 2). The power -outage Tuesday/Wednesday was caused by a storm at Valley View which interrupted Brazos' ability to provide power to our substations. From the report of damage at Valley View, it would seem remarkable that our service was only interrupted for 55 minutes. 3). Street Department employee, Robert Thornton, has resigned effective 6/1/90. The position has been posted on the City's bulletin board. 5). Does Council have instructions on how they want to proceed? JH:es MAY 2 3 ig30 MRS. PAXTON H. GRAY 808 NORTH SIXTH ST. SANGER,TEXAS 76266 May 20, 1990 IT RF gER I was favorably impressed with some of the changes made at the Library. But I could not be. lieve the outstanding and useful pieces., the General's table and four leather chairs and planter, so badly needed, and the handsome antique show case with the curved glass, had been relegated to storage. These were not only useful and "conversation pieces", but added to the charm of the Library. Their removal will be difficult to explain to the donors. A fine interior decorator planned the: library, Mrs. Chester Stippich. She located the stair rails and directed their use; she planned the coffee bar with its folding doors. The church had never had running water, so she designed the charming walls and ceiling of the first rest room, taking the space from the front room. The Williamsburg blue and acid yellow were her color choices. Now the charm is gone.
