Utility Board Mins 07-16-1988 Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the Sanger Utility Board July 26, 1988 Call to Order The meeting was called to order by the Chairman, Herb Arledge. Roll Call All members present. New Member The oath of office was administered to Mike Vinson by Herb Arledge. Discussion Stanley Day presented a report on the cost of repairing equipment now owned by the city and the cost of purchasing new equipment. Also discussed contracting with Denton to use their trucks. Nel Armstrong and Carroll McNeil gave input to the discussion. Action Item The motion was made by Jack Burkholder to recommend that the Council investigate the interest rate of $11,700 which is the cost of remodeling the digger, derrick and truck now owned by the city. If the interest accrued on this amount over the next two years would pay the interest on a new truck then the purchase of a new truck would be more feasible. The board will support the council 's decision. The motion was seconded by Chuck Trice and the motion carried unanimously. Action Item The motion was made by Jack Burkholder that the city council will meet with the Denton County Co-op and try to work out a compromise on street lights in the Bourland addition, and ' that an ordinance be adopted to protect Sanger in future developments. The ordinance should state that if Sanger does not provide the electricity for an addition the city will not provide free electricity for the street lights. Any sub-division that comes in under Denton County Co-op will have to form a home owners association to pay for street lights. The motion was seconded by Herb Arledge and passed unanimously by the' board. Action Item Herb Arledge made the motion that the city proceed in making an agreement with the State Highway Department regarding lights on Interstate Highway 35. The utility board will support the choice made by the city council. The motion was seconded by Jack Burkholder and passed unanimously.
