1. Mayor Nel Armstrong called the meeting to order and led the pledge
to the flag.
2, A,ppointment of the new directors to the Sander Industrial Developement
Commission.
Discussion followed concerning the election of officers to the
and to the term of office.
Appointments were made.
Mayor Armstrong pointed out that there should not be such a need
for so many directors on the commission. There were presently
ten (10) directors and three(3) no longer living in Sanger,
suggestions were made that either five (5) or seven (7) members
needed to be on the board.
The mayor pointed out that the Tsidustrial Developement Board -was
set up to borrowt money and loan money.
Mayor will check with the County Board on how many members -.
they have, rot tion of members and lenf;th of office.
Mayor Armstrong suggested John Coker be on the board.
The following were elected to serve on the board:
Carolyn Adkins - Councilwoman
Danny Spindle - Councilman
Nel Armstrong - Mayor
John Coker - Justice of the Peace
Banker
Motion was mad e. by Freddy Inman to remove a:11 current- directors
and appoint the five (5) listed above. Discussion continued
and Council agreed.

3. Mayor Armstrong informed Council o£ a letter she had received
from_ A:E.Y. Chairman of the'State Affairs Coliz;.r�zttee for
Denton Chamber of Commerce, who was adaisinq her that on
April 7, 1987, Austin will be having a Denton County Day and
he was encouraging Mayor and City Council members to attend.
The public reception is $25.00 nd: /250.00, covers entry into
both functions. Mayor advised Council that srie was attending
and she encouraged Council also to attend.
Council was in agreement that the Mayoz- should attend.
4. Council adjourned into executive sessionat 7:40 p.m.
- Council reconvened from executive session. Mots -on was made
by Jerry Jenkins; to appointed Rose Shuffield as City secretary
with a starting salary of $19,500:00 wi.zn. a probation period of
six (6) months and at that time, an increase in salary of
$500.00 if everything is satisfactory. Wendall Thomas seconded.
Motion carried with Inman abstaining.
Mayor and Council asked Rose Shuffield to remain as City Judge
until the next Council meeting to allow time to find a
replacement

Mayor Armstrong also advised Rose Shuffield that Council was
in agreement with her, that her duties as Court Clerk be
given to one of the girls in the office, since she will be
taking new added responsibilities.

L. Meeting -was called to order. Mayon- Armstrong gave the invocation
and led the pledge to the flag.
2 . Minutes- of .the last council meetin€;: (December 15, 1986 and
December 22, 1986) were approved. ,
3. Mayor Armstrong asked if anyone had any questions on
disbursements
Item A14 was questioned, Mesquite Sharpening, 9 chainsaws.
Item ��20 was also questioned Shaw 'Equipment Co. $6709.24
Mayor Armstrong asked if we had bici the job. The City Manager
replied that it was not.CD
Mayor Armstrong stated that we had to be cautious about
paying for jobs over $5,000.00 witriout getting bids.
Discussion followed.
City Secretary was asked to check t:he minutes prior to April
1984 to fint� out -when the particular equipment was purchased.
Jerry Jenkins made the motion and Wendall Thomas seconded it.

Item f5 - Discussion to name Steve Shutt to Chair the Utility
Team for the Sanger Industrial Team and Nel Armstrong to
chair the tax team.
6. Discussion and action was taken to approve 1987 Holiday season.
