04/09/1984-CC-Minutes-Regular34 ty Secretary MINUTES: City Council April 9, 1984 (Special Called) yor PRESENT: Mayor Cole, Bridges, Spindle, Inman, and Adkins. ABSENT: Harvey W. Thomas OTHERS PRESENT: Lloyd Henderson, Mary Jo Stover, Nel Armstrong, Jack Armstrong, Nelva Higgs, Helen Bounds, and Jan Roche. Before the canvass of the election returns, Mayor Cole stated that he had talked with County Commission, Bill Switzer, about the county dumping at the City Landfill and that the matter had been cleared up. He stated that Mr. Switzer would be at the April 16th Council meeting to discuss the repair of Keeton Road. Mayor Cole advised Council that he had instructed the City Manager not to take anymore applications for Mobile Home Parks until Council had worked out the new ordinance. 1. Council canvassed the election returns of the April 7, City Officials Election. A total of 471 votes were cast. Nel Armstrong was declared winner in the Mayor's race. Carolyn Adins was declared winner in Place 4 and Harvey W. Thomas winner in Place 2. Motion was made by Benny Bridges to adopt the resolution declaring the results of the City Official's Election. Freddy Inman gave the second. Voted unan. 2. Mayor Cole administered the oath of office to Nel Armstrong. After taking the oath of office, she in turn administered the oath of office to Carolyn Adkins. Harvey Thomas was absent and unable to be sworn in at this time. 3. Mayor Armstrong called for nominations to elect a Mayor Pro Tem. Freddy Inman made the motion nominating Benny Bridges as Mayor Pro Tem. Carolyn Adkins gave the second. Voting for were Spindle, Inman, and Adkins with Bridges abstaining. Motion carried. With no other business to come before Council, Carolyn Adkins made the motion to adjourn the meeting. Benny Bridges gave the second. Voted unan. Meeting Adjourned. City Secretary Mayor
