04-8-1983-Resolution-Santa Fe Railroad Station donated to the City of Sanger-04/18/1983RESOLUTION WHEREAS,the Santa Fe Railroad has donated the Sanger Santa Fe Railroad Station to the City of Sanger,and; WHEREAS, the Santa Fe Station is a cherished City landmark with historical value dating back to the year 1911, and; WHEREAS, the City of Sanger desiresto preserve the Santa Fe Station by relocating and renovating the Santa Fe Station to be used as a public facility housing a library, museum, Chamber of Commerce Office, Police Department Office, and City Council Chambers, and; WHEREAS, the City of Sanger is seeking financial assist- ance from grants and foundations to do the relocating and renovating of the Santa Fe Station, and; WHEREAS, the City of Sanger desires to do all restoration of the Santa Fe Station in accordance with historical preserv- ation standards as established by the Texas Historical Commission, and, WHEREAS, the City of Sanger desires to have the Santa Fe Station recognized as a Texas Historic Landmark and desires to obtain a historical marker from the Texas Historic Commission. BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED, that the City of Sanger City Council hereby requests the Texas Historical Commission to appoint the Sanger Santa Fe Railroad Station as a Texas Historical Landmark and that a historical marker be installed designating the station as such.
