04-97-Resolution-Supporting the Existing Boundary between Denton and Tarry County-06/02/1997CITY OF SANGER, TEXAS RESOLUTION No. R04-97 Novi 1 t 1 11' 1 011 1 WHEREAS, The Tarrant County Commissioners Court is claiming a 150 year -old survey error and is suing Denton County to move the northern boundary of Tarrant County farther north, taking away pasts of Alliance Airport, Trophy Club, Roanoke and Flower Mound; and WHEREAS, approval of this action will double the amount of county taxes for chose homeowners who are forced into Tarrant County; and WHEREAS, approval of this action will mean more than a $1QQ million cost in the current property tax valuations in Denton County; and WHEREAS, the subject area, approximately 5,500 acres, forms part of the foundation of the economic growth in Denton County, and the potential value of this land is immeasurable with the intense growth that Denton County is experiencing; and WHEREAS, the City of Sanger, Texas is within the boundaries of Denton County, and the City Council of the City of Sanger is concerned with the future growth and economic potential of Denton 'County. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IS RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANGER, TEXASc SECTION 1. That the Sanger City Council is in full support of the existing boundary between Denton County and Tarrant County. SECTION 2. That the Sanger City Council joins Denton County in opposing Tarrant County's lawsuit to take land from Denton County's border. SECTION 3.
